It doesn't seem to matter what kind of metal a musician is into, how old he is, or where he lives... you throw enough shots of whiskey in him and he starts putting together a band with some of his bar buddies that sounds like MOTÖRHEAD, VENOM, and THE MISFITS, in varying combinations. If the project moves beyond the drunk-talk stage and songs actually get written, or a show played, chances are the t-shirt designs will have some bastardized logo of one of the above, usually rife with skulls, aces, and more umlauts than a Berlin textbook factory. The end result is usually lo-fi, drunken, debaucherous, profane, and a helluva lot of fun.
All this should give you some indication of where MAAX is coming from, as if the cover art didn't already spill the beans. A short, abrasive EP of charred and blackened proto-punk barfed out of the bowels of someone's basement, it's a cruddy, filthy mess, with barely audible anything and the kind of shambling, staggering performances usually not remembered the next day by those involved. You've heard the riffs before, you've probably heard the vocals before (or smelled them),and you can't hear the drums now anyway — but fuck it, this is a little burst of good-time nihilism paying homage to the aforementioned demigods where punk, metal and rock trainwrecked. The world probably won't end if you don't hear it, but why deprive yourself? Best enjoyed drunk.
